The news today on a high-end retailer has experts buzzing. Nordstrom, which has maintained it's outlet stores as an extension of the brand, it now selling designer seconds- specifically used shoes- at it's Nordstrom Rack outlets.

On one hand it seems to make sense to sell returns and samples from the store. On the other hand, experts say it may harm their reputation as a luxury retailer. “On a perception level, it turns you into a junk store, a second-hand clothing store. And, that is something that now calls into question Nordstrom’s reputation as a first-rate, quality high-end type of brand retailer,” said branding expert Robert Frankel.
Our opinion? We think it's awesome! Why waste product and resources, especially when there is a demand for these items? Secondly, we all know that those who can afford to buy full-priced items also buy seconds. Research shows that the buyers of designer seconds include the high income earners (how do you think people become rich? By being smart buyers!). However, it is a surprise that Nordstrom chose not to shy away from this. Is the perception of Seconds fashion finally changing?
At Haute Trotter, we aim to offer an upscale, high-end alternative to buying seconds. Unlike Frankel's perception of second-hand clothing, we aim to offer our customers a different experience of what they are used to. Click
